I am admittedly a little late to the party on this one, but no less enthusiastic. Innings Festival, which takes place in Tempe, AZ (during spring training), combines two of my favorite things: music festivals and baseball. And when you get down to it there is food involved too – and that’s also one of my favorite things. So, first things first, here’s the lineup – which notably includes both musical acts and special appearances by MLB players.
Confession: As much as I love festivals, I probably love baseball more. I am a die-hard, watch every game, bobble-head collecting, sabermetrics course taking – baseball fiend. So when I heard about this festival, my mind was basically completely blown.
This is Innings second year, and it will be held at Tempe Beach Park & Arts Park. The festival is produced by C3 – the amazing company behind Lollapalooza and Austin City Limits. Wait really? That is even more exciting. I have found the C3 festivals, particularly Austin City Limits, to be among the most well organized around. They also tend to have awesome food (more on that later).
The marketing on this one is that it is a basically a big party for baseball lovers who head out that way for Cactus League games. I am completely fan-girling more and more by the minute. They also have a big focus on food (I am reading about past culinary demos and curated food options as we speak).
This is a relatively small festival, but the lineup is solid and has some cool acts from top to bottom. The lineup boasts a particularly solid middle – Grouplove, Blues Traveler, and Shakey Graves. It is also super unique.
Living the Fest Life is working on having a presence there and has applied for a media credential. Fingers Crossed. This is one that I would love to attend both personally and because it sounds like such an interesting crossroads between baseball and music.
Stay tuned for more info!
